Collective Worship

Serving God in Our School Community

Christian Collective Worship occupies an important part of our daily life as a Anglican church school. We have a weekly theme that will link to our Vision and Values and we aim for our worship to be inclusive, invitational and inspiring. Once a week we visit St John’s Church next door to the school and once a week we reflect on our theme as a smaller group in our classes. On other days we come together as a whole school. It provides an opportunity for all of us to pause from activity and take time for reflection.  Hymns, stories, drama & prayer are included and together we are reminded about the beliefs and values that bind us together as a school with a church foundation.

Collective Worship is led by a range of different people – routinely staff, different classes, Ethos Team and our local Vicar.  We have other visitors some coming on a regular basis (often once a half term) some more occasional – including both Church clergy and youth workers as well as representatives of charities or visitors from other cultures or countries.

Parents may request that their child is withdrawn wholly or partly from acts of worship.  Any such requests should be discussed with the Head of School first and then be put in writing.
